Shirley enjoyed the time she spent as an employee at the LDS Church office building and BYU campus. Her testimony of the Savior shone in all aspects of her life. She also served as a temple worker in the Provo and Manti Temples. Shirley also spent countless hours doing Family History work, and even served as a Family History missionary with her husband in the New York Rochester Mission. Shirley was a very active member of the LDS church, serving in several callings including Primary president at age 23, three stints as Relief Society President, and numerous other capacities, always marked by her love and laughter that she so willingly shared. She was a devoted mother to their two children who both made their mother beam with pride and joy, not only by the good lives they've lived and wonderful people they are, but also the many grandchildren they've given her. Larry and Shirley made their home in several places over the years & always made good friends and touched lives wherever they went. Theirs is a true love story that has spanned seven decades and now will never end. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple June 5, 1943. As a young girl, she met the love of her life, Larry Noel Clark. She was raised here with her three brothers and two sisters.

Shirley was born Augin Sutherland, Utah, to Alta Johnson and Pat Lorenzo Barney. Shirley Barney Clark, eternal companion, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, & friend, returned to the arms of her Savior and many anxiously awaiting family members on January 17, 2008.
